Completing a Streamlined Training for Current Assessors involves calculating the thermal performance (star rating) and Home Energy Rating. You will learn how to generate a Home Energy Rating Certificate, ensuring its accuracy before providing it to the householder along with a clear explanation of the results.

You will learn how to finalise the assessment. This includes doing final checks, collating, and securing all necessary documentation. You will be guided on how to discuss assessment outcomes with relevant parties, and store both physical and digital documentation for future audits and quality assurance.

Finally, you will learn about the Home Energy Rating Certificate and upgrade guidance, including how to explain the contents of the certificate and explain the main sources of energy consumption in a home and the main potential strategies for improvement.

  • New unit – Conduct Home Energy Rating assessments for existing homes. This unit includes the software training in AccuRate and magicplan

These nationally recognised units have been selected to develop the knowledge and practical skills required to assess existing residential buildings, advise homeowners and promote sustainable home energy practices.

Entry Requirements & Assessments

Expected level of student skills: It is expected students have a level of digital literacy to access information, communicate and complete training and assessment activities using a computer/tablet and our online learning platform. Students will be required to complete a number of tasks independently, and to have the skills to manage their own time and study. Students are expected to be able to research and analyse information, and to apply knowledge to real world situations.

Students will be required to independently read and understand a range of different documents including organisation policies, plans, guidelines & procedures, external documentation (may include codes, policies and articles), handbooks, instruction guides (and where applicable drawing and plans). Students are also required to develop written documentation, including risk assessments, action plans, logs, reports.

A key skill for this program is the ability to effectively communicate with others in English.

Technology requirements: Students should be able to access and use computer/tablet device with word processing software, internet browser, email account and webcam/microphone and speakers (or headset). An internet connection is also required.

IMPORTANT: Students will require access to a LiDAR-equipped iOS device such as iPhone Pro 12 or newer, and iPad Pro, continue to support full magicplan functionality, including the Auto-Scan feature and the slower Manual-Scan feature. Using a LiDAR-equipped iPhone Pro with a non LiDAR-equipped tablet (iOS and Android) is another way to use the Auto-Scan feature.

Assessment

Assessment includes a mix of written tasks, practical scenarios, and workplace evidence.

You’ll complete:

  • Software file modelling using AccuRate and magicplan.
  • Underpinning knowledge questions and work-based task assessments
  • Short-answer questions/ quiz
Recognition of Prior Learning

If you already have relevant energy rating experience, you may be eligible for RPL for CPPCOM4002 only. This can significantly reduce your time and cost to complete the course.

Credit Transfer – If you are able to provide a statement of attanment or results from another training provider for CPPCOM4002 unit then it may be considered for Credit Transfer. This means that we recognise that you have completed the unit with another provider and do not have to complete the unit again with Transformed.
