Unlike other training providers, we deliver live, interactive software training (via Zoom) in NatHERS accredited software (HERO) and face-to-face sessions for the more complex modelling requirements . You receive detailed feedback of each thermal performance rating based on your submission showing you exactly what you need to know and do. This makes you industry ready and able to pass a mandatory QA review of your work by your accreditation body.
Our software training brings together theory and practice from industry, the NatHERS technical note and years of hands-on experience using NatHERS software.
Structure
The HERO component is structured is dividing into two blocks. This allows participants to gain knowledge and skills and then apply them in the workplace prior to the next session. This training is part of the CPP41119 Certificate IV in Home Energy Efficiency and Sustainability qualification.
Block 1 is CPPHES4004. Prerequisites are CPPHES4003 and CPPCMN4008 .
This course:
- Builds a student’s knowledge and skills in the functions of HERO software to enable them to attempt the assessment required of unit CPPHES4004 – Conduct thermal performance assessment of residential buildings.
- IMPORTANT Pre-requisite units CPPCMN4008 and CPPHES4003 must be completed and graded as Competent/Satisfactory before you can commence this training. If you register and have not yet completed the pre-requisites, you will be moved to the next proposed cohort. Do not expect to join a cohort if you do not have your prerequisites finalised at least three weeks prior to the cohort commencement date.
- You will learn decisively in incremental steps over six (6) sessions, and it is expected you will attend all sessions:
You’ll need Hero installed on your PC or laptop and a webcam so you can be seen during the session.
Please note the following attendance requirements:
- Attendance is mandatory for Session 1. If you cannot attend this first session, you will be moved to the next available Block 1 training cohort.
- Attendance is highly recommended for all remaining sessions due to the interactive nature of the delivery. However, absence from one (1) session of Sessions 2-6 is acceptable.
After each session, there may be work you need to complete as part of the thermal performance assessment of the specific building that was discussed in the session. In the following session, there is the opportunity for feedback and review of what you have done.
Whatsapp groups are created for each cohort – it is optional to join however we have found this way beneficial to enable communication between facilitator and group to share knowledge and ask questions.

BLOCK 2 – FACE TO FACE over three daysBlock 2 covers CPPHES5001 must be done after Block 1. This component is delivered face to face (in Syd, Melb and Brisbane at CBD venues with more state locations to be added according to volume). This was previously delivered online similar to Block 1 however greater student outcomes have been achieved with the face to face delivery mode. These sessions are where the ‘rubber hits the road’ with complex modelling and all the learning up to now will need to applied to meet the assessment requirements. It is a ramp up from Block 1 but having Matthew Graham in the room has ensured many students have the support needed to progress to submitting their T4 and T5 assessments in good time. Transformed covers food for three days, venue and materials – however the participant will need to cover travel to and from the venue/ parking and/ or accommodation if required.
