Fifteen, even ten years ago, who would have thought that a career in social media marketing would not only be feasible, but provide such a massive possibility for career growth? Ten years ago, job titles such as Social Media Manager, Digital Marketing Specialist and Social Media Analyst didn’t really exist.

The number of positions available in the social media field are multiplying rapidly according to Fortune Business Insights. Given the numerous advantages of utilizing social media marketing (broad reach, specific targeting, relative ease of use and low cost) over more traditional marketing forms, this is hardly surprising. Social Media College cites LinkedIn having a 1357% increase in social media positions listed since 2010!

So, if this is such a growth area – what could a career in social media potentially look like? Here’s what you need to know.
