    Work towards becoming a registered builder with our specially designed NSW Building Licence course.

    Looking to become a licenced builder in New South Wales? NSW Fair Trading requires you to have a large amount of skills, knowledge and experience to apply for a building licence.

    Learning Outcomes

    This course meets the education requirements for registration as a licensed builder in NSW. On successful completion, you will receive a both the Certificate IV Building and Construction (Building) and the Diploma of Building and Construction (Building), which can be used to apply for a NSW Building Licence.

    Check your eligibility for a NSW Building Licence before you enrol. As there may be extra requirements to register, completion of this program does not guarantee you can obtain a NSW Building Licence. 

    Course Fees and Funding

    $9,500
    Fees are GST exempt

    Successful completion of the qualification within the course duration period, a completion rebate of $500 will be paid.

    1. Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) – Assessment via interview and portfolio of evidence is available to participants with relevant workplace experience in a building and construction environment. Transformed will provide participants seeking RPL a detailed RPL kit to assist them in preparing their evidence for assessment.
    2. Online Learning – The learning environment provides access to study guides, assessment materials & submission links and online support from your assessor

    Course Structure

    Complete 19 units from the CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) and 27 units from the CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction (Building).

    CPC40120 – Certificate IV Building (Building)

    CPCCBC4001 Apply building codes and standards to the construction process for Class 1 and 10 Buildings
    CPCCBC4002 Manage occupational health and safety in the building and construction workplace
    CPCCBC4007 Plan building or construction work
    CPCCBC4008 Supervise site communication and administration processes for building and construction projects
    CPCCBC4009 Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects
    CPCCBC4010 Apply structural principles to residential low rise constructions*
    CPCCBC4012 Read and interpret plans and specifications
    CPCCBC4014 Prepare simple building sketches and drawings

    Course Duration

    The completion timeframe for this course is 42 months.

    Entry Requirements

    There are no formal entry requirements for this course. However, to help you obtain your licence, we recommend that you have at least 2 years of experience in the building and construction industry, as well as a basic knowledge of the BCA and other standards.

    Assessment
    • Completion of assessment tasks

    Assessment is against the competency standards within the Construction Training Package (CPC08). Expect to spend about 200 hours on assessment tasks.
