A proud moment for Queensland’s next generation of project leaders
In early September, proud families, educators, and industry mentors came together to celebrate a remarkable milestone — the graduation of students from the Leverage Learning Program (LLP) Diploma of Project Management BSB50820 Diploma of Project Management.
A Program Built by Project Managers, for Future Project Leaders
Dr Elaine Roberts, who leads the program, describes the Leverage Learning initiative as “a bridge between school and the world of professional project delivery.”
“The success of the program comes not only from the structured approach to project management but from the incredible depth of experience within our teaching team. Every one of them brings real-world project experience — the kind of insight any employer would be lucky to have.”
– Dr Elaine Roberts, Program Lead, Management Frontline
Students learn from practising project managers who guide them through the full lifecycle of projects — from initiation and planning through to delivery and evaluation. This hands-on, industry-relevant learning has been the cornerstone of the LLP since its inception.
From Classroom to Capability
Students often begin the Diploma curious — even skeptical — about how project management will apply to them. But by the end, that curiosity becomes confidence, and the results speak for themselves.
Reported student benefits include:
- Improved communication – stronger writing and interpersonal skills.
- Leadership development – confidence in group work and decision-making.
- Effective time management – balancing study, work and extracurriculars
- Improved academic performance
Partnership and Professionalism
Transformed, the RTO delivering the program, has played an essential role in ensuring quality outcomes for students and schools alike.
Students also highlight the excitement of learning Microsoft Project, collaborating with parents on real projects, and presenting their final work at graduation.
“That moment when a student stands up to present their first project — you can almost see their confidence click into place. It’s what makes all the work worthwhile.”
– Dr Elaine Roberts, Program Lead, Management Frontline
Reflecting on the Brisbane graduation, CEO of Transformed Kate Hassen shares:
“Finishing Year 12 thirty years ago, I wish I’d had an option like this. My introduction to project management came as an unpaid intern at one of the first global AIPM conferences in Canberra in 1993. Programs like the Leverage Learning Program give today’s students an incredible head start — a structured, supported, and industry-validated pathway into their futures.”
And in Brisbane, that reality was on full display — in every handshake, every proud parent, and every newly-minted graduate ready to take the next step.
